Guntur: A swine flu case has been registered in Guntur city. A 48-year-old woman suffering from swine flu is undergoing treatment at the Government Fever Hospital. She hailed from Narasaraopet town and was suffering from cold, cough and fever for the last 15-days.

She was admitted to the GGH one week ago. When the GGH doctors found symptoms of swine flu, she has been shifted to the Government Fever Hospital at Amaravati Road in Guntur city for treatment. Later, the GGH doctors referred her to the GFH on October 1.

The doctors in the GFH collected her swab and sent to the micro biology lab for conducting tests on October 4. The test reports confirmed the patient has been suffering from swine flu. After getting confirmation, the doctors have taken all the precaution measures.

She is under the supervision of a group of doctors in the ICU. The doctors giving medical treatment to her are using face masks, as a precautionary measure. They are ready to shift her on the ventilator, if needed.

GFH superintendent Dr D Sudeena said, " The patient went to Mantralayam 15 days ago where she might have contacted the infection. After returning, she has been suffering from cold, cough and fever and approached local doctor for treatment in Narasaraopet town.”

“When there is no improvement in her health condition, she was admitted to GGH in Guntur. Currently, there is no swine flu cases in Guntur district, but as a precautionary measure, all the neighbours and family members were tested for the infection and medicines were given to the family members. The woman is recovering now,” she added.
