Navy deploys Seaking helicopters for rescue work

Visakhapatnam: The Navy has deployed Seaking helicopters for air dropping food packets and relief material in the cyclone Titli affected areas in Srikakulam district. The helicopter will also carry Diving Team, Gemini and an OBM. Two Chetak helicopters are also deployed to Asika village at the confluence of Rushikulya and Bara Rivers in Behrampur, Odisha for relief operations.  

diving team from INS Chilka is already onsite undertaking rescue and relief operations.  INS Ranvijay has been diverted to arrive off Srikakulam by this evening to provide support for helicopter operations in the area.

On Thursday, the diving teams with inflatable Gemini boats and associated diving equipment from Visakhapatnam which were pre-positioned at INS Chilka were immediately deployed for rescue operations at Gopalpur district. A naval Dornier aircraft undertook aerial survey of affected area on Thursday afternoon and identified flooded areas. 

The Eastern Naval Command has been put on high alert to provide any assistance towards rescue and relief operations against severe cyclonic storm Titli.  Naval  ships, aircraft and diving teams were kept standby for immediate deployment for rescue and relief operation.
