Garuda Sahayaks concept will be extended state wide: DGP RP Thakur
Tirupati: The novel concept of Garuda Sahayaks which was taken up by Tirupati Urban Police involving college students to support the police for the successful conduct of recent Brahmotsavams will be extended state wide, DGP RP Thakur said.
The initiative which proved very helpful to the police will go a long way in channelising the youth power for the service of the society, he said adding that the state police will adopt the idea to support the police in various duties.
He lauded the 1,100 youth including girls who worked as `Garuda Sahayaks, taking up various works of policing on par with the regular police for the conduct of two Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara in which lakhs participated.
``They did a commendable job of various types policing including help desk, CC cameras control system, crowd and traffic management, guiding pilgrims and tagging children and aged and to find out more than 200 children and aged who went missing during the major festival,’’ Thakur said lauding Tirupati Urban SP Abishek Mohanty and his team of officials for roping and motivating the youth to involve in the conduct of Brahmotsavams.
Earlier addressing the students, the DGP said the student Garuda Sahayaks with their selfless service proved worthy in the service of Lord like Garuda, the ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu.
