One more dies of Swine flu in Kurnool district

Kurnool: One more person succumbed to swine flu (H1N1) influenza virus at Tungabhadra village in Mantralayam constituency on Tuesday. With this death, the total number of swine flu deaths reached to seven.

Another ten more persons were tested positive and they are being treated at isolation ward in Kurnool General Hospital. Despite, the medical and health department taking all sorts of necessary measures to tackle the dreadful disease, the number of deaths are increasing in the district.

On learning about the swine flu deaths in the district, the Deputy Chief Minister, KE Krishna Murthy called upon the District Collector, S Sathyanaryana and general hospital superintendent P Chandrasekhar and ordered them to alert the entire medical staff. He ordered them to conduct awareness camps at all villages and educate the people to take necessary steps. 

With the orders from the deputy chief minister, KE Krishna Murthy, the District Collector, S Sathyanaryana addressed a press conference at his camp office on Tuesday evening. The collector said that those who are suffering from continuous fever, cough, cold, breathlessness, dysentery, joint pains, head ache, shivering and vomiting should immediately consult the doctors and take necessary treatment. 

Further speaking, he said that so far around 24 persons were admitted due to the disease. Of them, six persons were cured and discharged from the hospital and seven suffered deaths and eleven persons are under doctors’ care. 

District Medical and Health Officer (|DMHO), Dr. Prasad, Hospital Superintendent, Dr P Chandra Sekhar, Pulmonary medicine Professor, Dr Sailama, Microbiology Head of the Department (HoD(, Dr Surekha were present.
