Police to maintain strict vigil on border areas
- Three inspectors appointed for border stations
- Special officers to be appointed other stations also
Srikakulam: In the wake of series of incidents in Andhra Odisha Border area (AOB) and in other nearest states like Chattishgarh police have decided to maintain strict vigil and to prevent further incidents in the border areas.
In Srikakulam three circle inspector (CI) cadre officers appointed for three border areas police stations which are being notified as sensitive areas in the first spell.
There are no incidents in Odisha border areas in Srikakulam district for the last ten years. But in the wake of incidents in adjacent districts police decided to maintain strict vigil in these border areas.
But Maoist sympathizers are moving around the border areas to prove their existence in AOB area. In this backdrop police officials are thinking that border areas of Srikakulam may turn a shelter zones to extremists and in an to prevent it CI cadre officers appointed specially for the border area police stations which are too sensitive.
In the first spell for Mandasa, Battili and Donubhai stations three CI cadre officers have been appointed by the Visakhapatnam range deputy inspector general (DIG) of police, Ch.Srikanth.
These officers will collect information regarding extremists movement, their activities, programmes of sympathizers etc in all areas covered under these police stations limits.
Special officers have also been appointed in border area stations of Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts. These officers will start their work soon and collect information from public to alert higher officials a police officer of special branch explained to The Hans India.
