NSTL celebrates 49th Foundation Day

  Visakhapatnam: Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) celebrated its 49th Foundation Day (Lab Raising Day) on Saturday.  Secretary Department of Defence Research and Development and Chairman DRDO, Dr G Satheesh Reddy inaugurated the celebrations. 

Speaking on the occasion, Satheesh Reddy recalled the contributions made by the former directors of NSTL in making NSTL a premiere naval laboratory in India by realising the products like Varunastra, Tal, Maareech and Varunastra as per the user requirements. 

Director NSTL Dr O R Nandagopan recalled the stellar contributions of scientists, officers and staff in making NSTL. 

The director detailed the various achievements of the Lab over the past year, and the progress on the innovative technologies to meet futuristic requirements. 

Chairman of the celebrations PVS Ganesh Kumar said that since its inception NSTL has grown multifold and has made significant contributions to Defence Research and Development. 

On the occasion, DRDO laboratory level awards were presented to scientists and other employees of the laboratory for their outstanding contributions.  

The Laboratory Scientist of the Year was awarded to Dr AVN Ramalingeswara Rao.
