Chandrababu Naidu seeks plan to meet power demand for 15 yrs

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to prepare a comprehensive action plan for meeting the power needs for the next 15 years in view of growing demand in the state, particularly in industries, IT, electronics and agricultural sectors, according to APGenco managing director (MD) K Vijayanand. He unveiled the statue of Mokshagundam Visweswarayya at Vidyuth Soudha here on Wednesday.

Vijayanand asked the employees to work with the inspiration of Mokshagundam Visweswarayya and the exemplary vision of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. “Predicting a huge demand for electricity in view of construction of world-class capital, Amaravati, and rapid industrialisation and economic development in the state, the Chief Minster asked power utilities to focus on enhancing the generation, transmission, distribution capacities and achieve global standards.

He also directed the department to submit an action plan on anticipated power demand,” Vijayanand said. He added that the energy department and power utilities are likely to make a power point presentation before the Chief Minister on operational and financial performance of the power utilities on November 16 and take his directions for further improving the efficiency.

He further said the AP power utilities were geared up to meet the ensuing demand in rabi crop season for which discoms have tied up adequate power to protect the interest of the consumers. Advisor to power sector K Ranganatham, JMDs of APTransco Umapathi, Dinesh Paruchuri, Transco directors Adam, J V Rao, Nageswara Rao, Raju, Adinarayana and AP State Electricity Board Engineers Association president Chandramouli and secretary Veda Vyas were present.
