Amaravati Global Music, Dance Festival concludes

Vijayawada: Thousands of audiences were left spell-bound and dazzled on the third and concluding day of the Amaravati Global Music and Dance Festival 2018 held here on Sunday.

The evening began with a scintillating performance by classical musician and percussionist and Padma Shri awardee Yella Venkateswara Rao. His play with the mridangam, aptly titled ‘The Rhythm of Andhra’, had the audiences listening in rapt attention.

From classical music, the scene shifted to global fusion music as a team of renowned artists took the stage, including American saxophonist and composer George Brooks, the ‘Godfather of Indian Jazz’ Louis Banks, drummer Gino Banks, percussionist V Selvaganesh, and bass player Sheldon.

Hindustani classical music instrumentalist Pt Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, noted Indian violinist Mysore Manjunath, Bharatanatyam dancer and actress Shobana’s performance with graceful movements left the audience mesmerised.

Composer Clinton Cerejo performed live with Bollywood playback singer Bianca Gomes and singer and composer Vijay Prakash from Mysore, entertaining the audiences with Bollywood and Telugu movie songs.

Amaravati Global Music and Dance Festival is an annual flagship event of the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority to promote the city of Amaravati as a global hub for culture.
