Constable held on graft charges

Vijayawada: City police arrested a constable Vishnu Kumar of Governorpet police station on Saturday following a complaint  received from a gold trader of Ponnur of Guntur district. The complainant says that the constable along with other police man forcibly taken his cash of Rs.5.50 lakh recently when he came to gold market in Governorpet to purchase gold material.  

The police constable threatened the trader that he would inform to the Income Tax department that he had been illegally possessing money. Then the cop has taken Rs.5. 50 lakh saying that Rs 5 lakh would be given to his officer and Rs.50 000 for himself . After preliminary inquiry, the police officials have come to the conclusion that the constable had taken Rs.5.50 lakh from the gold trader. They arrested the constable.
