Jagan failed as Opposition leader, lambasts Kiran
Nellore: Former chief minister Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy said that YSR Congress president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy cannot reach out to people with his padayatra. He also alleged that the YSR Congress had failed to play the role of opposition in the state.
Addressing a public meeting organised in connection with the birth anniversary of former prime minister Indira Gandhi at RTC circle here on Monday, he asked as to why the YSRCP legislators had not attended Assembly even for questioning the misdeeds of the ruling party like misuse of SC/ST sub-plan funds in the state.
“The Opposition party acted deceptively and failed to resolve problems of people. The TDP government also failed in providing good governance due to its nexus with the BJP at Centre till recently,” he said.
Kiran Kumar Reddy said TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu had joined hands with the Congress only after assurance from the AICC president Rahul Gandhi on Special Category Status, he said. Criticising attempts by BJP to appropriate Congress leaders of the past, he pointed out that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was a Congress leader, not a BJP leader, reminding that Patel had banned the RSS for the first time in the country.
PCC president N Raghuveera Reddy said that TDP and BJP had been trying to erase the charisma of former prime minister Indira and cited the changing of Polavaram project by the current government from Indira-Sagar Polavaram project, given by the previous Congress government. He also said works of Polavaram project were started long ago during the Congress government.
The PCC president promised that Congress if it comes to power in the state would provide four LPG cylinders per year free of cost and also nine varieties of essential commodities to every white card holder. He also assured 1.62 lakh jobs in the state within 100 days.
Rajya Sabha member K V P Ramachandra Rao said Indira Gandhi had turned many common activists into state leaders. Recalling the services of Indiara Gandhi, AICC secretary C D Meyappan said that nationalisation of banks was done only by her. AICC leader Christopher said that youth in the country were not aware of contributions of Indira who had introduced 20 point programme for welfare of the poor.
He also explained that Indira Gandhi had played a very crucial role in the history of Indian politics. Former Union minister Panabaka Lakshmi, former minister Sailajanath, former TTD chairman K Bapiraju, DCC president Panabaka Krishnaiah, AICC leaders Ch Deva Kumar Reddy, P Seetharambabu and others were present.
