Man gets lifer for killing wife

Srikakulam: The third additional district-cum-family court judge, K Sudhamani, on Thursday awarded life imprisonment to a man for killing his wife in Srikakulam. According to prosecution, the accused Murapaku Ramu belongs to Garapeta in Ponduru mandal married a woman Sopinti Tavitamma of Varahanarasimhapuram in Ranastalam mandal 10 years ago and the couple had two daughters.

Due to differences among them, they often quarreled and on 4 July, 2015, Ramu killed his wife and tried to depict it as a suicide. Based on the complaint filed by deceased, Tavitamma’s father Sopinti Appala Ramu, police started investigation. The then Ponduru mandal SI, RHNV Kumar and JR Puram CI, RVSS Chandra Sekhara Rao investigated the case.

On the prosecution side, public prosecutor Palisetti Mallibabu argued the case. While delivering verdict, judge K Sudhamani awarded life imprisonment to the accused and imposed Rs 10,000 as penalty.
