No progress in TTD marriage hall works
Bhimavaram: There is no progress in works relating to construction of new TTD Kalyana Mandapam for which the foundation stone was laid six years ago. While the estimated cost is Rs 5 crore, the TTD has already sanctioned Rs 2 crore on its part.
The remaining sum would be contributed by donors. However, the marriage hall works have not been started for unknown reasons.
With the old Kalyana Mandapam built in 1967 by donors turned too old to perform marriages, it was proposed to build new Kalyana Mandapam at Two-Town railway station.
The then TTD chairman, K Bapiraju laid foundation stone for the same in September 2012. Engineers of TTD also paid a visit and took measurements for the proposed structure. As per plan, the new marriage hall would have air condition facility apart from modern dining hall.
Interestingly, there has been no progress in the works for six years. Though there is no problem for funds for the Kalyana Mandapam, as announced by the politicians, the works remained a non-starter leaving people in distress.
The existing Kalyana Mandapam is not used. As a result, the TTD is losing revenue. It is high time officials and local leaders take initiative and start the works of the new Kalyana Mandapam which is the wish of majority people.
