Make water available in summer: Minister Kalava Srinivasulu
Kurnool: District in-charge Minister Kalava Srinivasulu has instructed the engineers of the Irrigation Department to prepare concrete plans for proper utilisation of available water to overcome crisis in summer season.
He held a review meeting on water utilisation at guest house here on Wednesday in which Minister N Md Farooq was present. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the farmers are facing water shortage to save standing crop as the district recorded deficit rainfall. “We have allocated 18 tmcft of water from Tungabhadra dam. In which, 8.85 tmcft of water had already used,” he stated and instructed the Superintending Engineer (SE) to initiate steps for proper utilisation of remaining water.
Kalava asked officials to ensure water is extended to every acre as the farmers have invested heavily to raise cotton and chilly crops. “Officials should take necessary steps to fill the ponds with water from HNSS, KC Canal and LLC to meet the drinking water needs during summer,” he added. Kurnool MP Butta Renuka, MLA SV Mohan Reddy, District Collector S Satyanarayana, Joint Collector P Ravi Subash, KUDA Chairman Somisetty Venkateswarlu and other officials participated.
