Mudapaka farmers urge govt to take over their lands under Land Pooling Scheme

Visakhapatnam: In a major twist, farmers of Mudapaka village of Pendurty mandal, urged the government to take over their lands under land pooling scheme. In fact, the villagers of the same village opposed to give their lands under the land pooling scheme last year.

Some farmers also met BJP MLA P Vishnukumar Raju and urged to intervene into their issue alleging that the government is trying to take over their lands under land pooling scheme.

Some farmers also lodged a complaint with the Special Investigation Team (SIT), seeking a probe into the land irregularities in the district. 
There are severe allegations that some middlemen acquired the lands by offering meagre amount from the farmers.

In this backdrop, a good number of farmers here on Wednesday met Collector Pravin Kumar and gave a representation asking the government to take over their lands under the land pooling scheme.

The farmers informed to the collector that the government had allotted lands for cultivation for about 450 farmers in the village and all these years they were cultivating the lands and leading their families. Casuarina and cashew crops being cultivated in the lands. The farmers informed to the collector in the recent years, due to less rainfall, the farmers have failed to get good returns from crops. 

The farmers also informed to the collector that in fact they expressed their willingness to give their lands, some party leaders entered their village and making efforts to divide them into groups. The farmers informed that they misunderstood the government proposal. They said all the farmers in the village are unitedly urging the government to accept their request and take over their 600 acres of lands under land pooling scheme.
