2.38 lakh hectares paddy target set for Rabi

  Kakinada: Collector Karthikeya Misra has directed the officials to make arrangements to cultivate paddy crop in 2.38 lakh hectares during the Rabi season. He asked the respective officials to encourage farmers go for paddy cultivation.

Reviewing the progress of agriculture and allied crops with the officials at collectorate here on Tuesday, he said harvesting completed in 2.04 lakh acres relating to Khariff season as against of 2.22 lakh hectars. It was assessed that the paddy yield during Khariff season may be 13.76 lakh metric tonnes and necessary paddy purchasing centres were arranged, he added.

A loan of Rs 856.07 crore was given to 2.5 lakh tenant farmers. Loans to the tune of Rs 3,251 crore were given to 2.75 lakh farmers during Rabi season, he informed.Natural farming was under progress in 36 clusters in the district, he added.

Joint Collector-2 CH Sattibabu, district revenue officer SVS Subba Lakshmi, agricultural 
department deputy director KSV Prasad, animal husbandry department deputy director Srinivasa Rao, fisheries department deputy director V Venkateswara Rao and other officials were present.
