NREGS funds come handy for rural development

Anantapur: Minister for Women and Child Welfare Paritala Sunitha has thanked NREGS Project Director Jyothi Basu for developing several villages by using NREGS (National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme) workers and funds.

Addressing a review meeting here on Sunday, Sunitha said that the NREGS funds facilitated undertaking of development works and ultimately for the development of villages. She said that Raptadu stood first in overall development of the constituency in the State.

Development works included roads, desilting of village tanks and promotion of greenery apart from building community halls, Sri Sakthi Bhavans, Anganwadi buildings and panchayat buildings.

She also released Rs 8 lakhs for the development of a park on Upparapalle Road. The minister said that people can enjoy the serenity of trees and water fountain and spend time joyfully at the parks.
