Detailed project report with estimated cost of 1,733 cr sent to Railway Board

Guntur: South Central Railway General Manger Vinod Yadav said that they have sent a detailed project report for laying railway line to State capital at a cost of Rs. 1733 crore, to the Railway Board for its approval and asked the State government to bear some share for laying the railway line.

While addressing a press meet in Guntur Railway station on Friday, he said that State government has made it clear that it is not ready to bear any share for laying the new railway line. 

He further said that initially, they will lay single line railway track to Amaravati and later, depending on the requirement, they will lay second line. However, in tune with the policy of railway department, they will acquire land for laying double railway track.  He further said that after laying the new railway line, initially they will get losses and after a few years, they will get substantial income. 

Replying to a question, he said, the Central government will allot funds for laying new railway line to Amaravati in the 2019-20 financial year and added that after allocation of funds, the railway board will take further steps for laying railway line.

Vinod Kumar Yadav added that as part of annual inspection, he has conducted safety inspection from Pagadapalli to Guntur city. He said Nadikudi –Srikalahasti railway line is completed up to Savalyapuram and added that they will complete the railway line laying work within the stipulated time.

This railway line laying working is delaying due to delay in land acquisition and court cases. He said Guntur-Guntakal double line, 30 km, has been completed. Replying to a question, he said they will complete Guntur-Tenali railway line doubling works by next year March. He said they are developing Guntur railway station at a cost of Rs.15 crore. Guntur DRM V R Bhooma, was present in the press meet.
