Cyclone hits flight services

Hyderabad: Cyclone Phethai has impacted flight services in Visakhapatnam and Rajahmundry airports in Andhra Pradesh. Spice Jet and Indigo flights to and fro from Rajahmundry and Visakhapatnam were cancelled on Monday while some flights were cancelled on Sunday night.

Flight 6E 608 that was set leave from Visakhapatnam to Hyderabad on Monday morning was cancelled. Passengers who booked tickets on flights SG 422, 6E 809 from Visakhapatnam also could not travel to Hyderabad and other destinations as planned due to unfavourable weather conditions until afternoon.

Flights 6E 7126, SG 1268 that were scheduled to leave from Rajahmundry airport on Sunday night were also cancelled. Flight 6E 7156 between Rajahmundry and Hyderabad was also cancelled on Monday evening.Flight 6E 7206 that was scheduled to start from Vijayawada airport on Sunday night was cancelled.

However, there was no disruption of flights to and fro from Vijayawada airport on Monday. Meanwhile, flight services to Visakhapatnam and Rajahmundry from other cities including Hyderabad, Mumbai and Ahmedabad were also hit due to inclement weather. 

Flights SG 421, 6E 879, 6E 366 could not travel till Visakhapatnam. So was flight 6E 7155 that was set to land in Rajahmundry airport at 4.40 pm. However, most of the airlines resumed their services by evening after the weather improved.
