Police should be aware of JJ Act: DLSA Chairperson

Ongole: The Prakasam district judge and District Legal Services Authority chairperson MG Priyadarsini advised the police officials to have knowledge of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 which is a must.

She participated as the chief guest at the one-day training programme on JJ Act for police personnel, child protection committee members and other stake holders held at the Lok Adalat Court in Ongole on Thursday.

Speaking to the police, after inaugurating the programme, the judge said that Police should be friendly with the children and must be in civil dress while questioning them for information in the cases related to them. She said that the police must provide a comfortable atmosphere to the children and warned that those who violates the JJ Act will be punishable according to it.

The DLSA secretary and senior civil judge T Raja Venkatadri said that they are conducting similar training programmes every two months regularly and asked the police and child protection committee members to best utilize them.

The first additional judge RJ Viswanatham, Bar association president K Paul also participated in the programme while the mobile court judge Vanisri, lawyers G Gandhi and B Padmavathi acted as the resource persons for it.
