Annual Crime Review : 202 red sanders smugglers nabbed: SP

Chittoor: Releasing the details of the annual crime report to the media, District Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikrant Patil said district cops were effective in nabbing 202 red sanders smugglers in 2018-19 by strengthening the Red Sanders Smuggling Accused Information System (RAIS).
 
In this year, 1,375 red sanders logs worth Rs 10.5 crore were seized in the district, he stated. The SP on Saturday enlisted the achievements. He mentioned 3,903 cases were registered in the present year as against 3,819 cases last year. 

The SP further said the district cops take pride for implementation of Community Police Officers Project. To create awareness on cybercrimes in the district, the SP said 1,500 anti-cybercrime teams were formed to prevent the threat from cyber frauds. 

A target of covering 5 lakh people in the district was set for creating awareness. Patil mentioned ‘Prana Raksha’ app will be developed in the district in order to prevent the fatal accidents. 

He stressed that there was an immediate need to streamline the entire police administration to gear them up for the general elections slated to be held in 2019.  ASP E Supraja and others were present.
