Call to create awareness on cyber frauds

Chittoor: As part of creating awareness among the public over cybercrimes, District Superintendent of Police (SP) Vikrant Patil participated in a cybercrime awareness weekly programme organised at PES Medical College in Kuppam on Saturday. 

Addressing the gathering, the SP said that they have been conducting cyber fraud awareness programmes in the district for the last one week. Awareness about cybercrimes was created among 4 lakh people out of the target of 10 lakh in the district, he added. 

It may be stated here that the Chittoor SP has taken an initiative to conduct cybercrime awareness programmes in major towns of the district. Vikrant Patil expressed concern over increase in OTP, job, e-mail and lucky draw frauds in the last few years. 

Both educated and uneducated are becoming the victims of cyber frauds due to lack of awareness, he mentioned and added 1,500 Training of Trainers (ToTs) were deputed in various parts of the district to create awareness on cybercrimes among all sections of the society. 

He made an appeal to teachers, lecturers, students and voluntary organisations to take initiative in educating people on cyber frauds. 

The SP further stated that there was a serious proposal to form anti-cyber teams in the district to curb cyber frauds. 

ASP E Supraja, PES Medical College Principal H R Krishna Rao and others were present. Later, the SP released a DVD on prevention of cybercrimes.
