Encroachments eclipse ‘Gokulam’

Bhimavaram: Lack of suitable site is eclipsing Gokulam project supposed to be set up at a cost of Rs 21 lakh in mandal headquarters of Veeravasaram.

The project intended for the welfare of the farmers seems slowly disappearing from reality as government lands were encroached everywhere.

Though the government possesses 60 acres of lands in the mandal, the officials had failed to spot 25 cents of land required to set up the project. While 10 cents of land is used solely for construction of sheds for the cattle, about 20 superior variety cattle are kept here.

This project uses modern technology to feed the cattle and helps farmers a lot.

The officials of the animal husbandry had already approached the revenue officials to find place necessary for construction of the Gokulam. However, they failed to find the place so far.

Contrary to details of lands in records, a majority of sites are under encroachment when officials begin work at field level.

Even the animal husbandry department had made some suggestions on lands suitable for starting Gokulam.

Unless departments concerned okay the proposal, there appears possibility of scrapping Gokulam in the mandal.
