Visakhapatnam: Collector K Bhaskar expressed his strong dissent over the slow progress of works taken up under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in the district.

As part of works, the officials proposed to construct compound walls to 614 schools measuring 2,68,257 mtrs this year.

The government has issued all the sanctions for works also. However, the officials completed the compound wall works at 10 schools measuring 775 mtrs only.

While reviewing the MGNREGS works here on Saturday, the Collector pointed out about the failure of officials in completing the works.

He directed the officials to complete all the MGNREGS before March 31. He also asked the officials to kick-start all the sanctioned works without further delay.

The collector reviewed the status of CC, BT and gravel roads and directed the Panchayat Raj officials to gear up and complete the works in the present fiscal.

The collector also reviewed the status of Gokulam and Mini Gokulam works and directed the animal husbandry officials to complete the works without further delay.
