Congress terms 10% EBCs quota political stunt
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president N Raghuveera Reddy termed the 10 per cent reservation bill to poor sections of forward castes a political stunt. He asked Prime Minister Modi as to why he did not introduce the same three years ago.
Addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Tuesday, the Congress state chief said that the Congress had welcomed the decision when it was Congress policy to provide reservation for poorer sections in upper castes. The AP Congress party included the issue in its primary election manifesto-2019 for elections, he said.
The APCC president said that had the Prime Minister taken this decision four years ago, the 2.4 lakh unemployed youth would have benefited. He said that the Prime Minister had taken the decision to divert the attention of the people from Rafale scam and the jolts the BJP had received in the elections of three states. He demanded Modi to apologise to the country for tarnishing the CBI’s image.
