Lovers attempt suicide, girl dies

Visakhapatnam: A 22-year-old woman died and her lover is undergoing treatment at KGH after the lover couple decided to commit suicide at their respective houses on Wednesday. The incident occurred at Jai Andhra Colony under Malkapuram police limits in the city. 

According to Malkapuram police,  K Devi who was pursuing degree final year in a city college fell in love with Bhanu Prashant alias Aravind, who studied ITI and working as a private technician, of the same locality. 

The lovers conveyed their wish to marry to their elders but the girl’s parents rejected their relationship and decided to perform her marriage to another person and even conducted the engagement ceremony. 

Dejected over the development, Devi and Aravind spoke on phone with another and decided to end their lives. According to the suicide pact, both of them hanged themselves in their houses. While Devi died, Aravind’s parents grew suspicious when he bolted himself and found him hanging when they peeped into the room. They immediately broke one the door and rescued him.

He was shifted to a private hospital where he is undergoing treatment.  Devi’s parents were alarmed on learning of Aravind’s suicide and checked on their daughter but it proved to be too late. Police registered a case and shifted the girl’s body to KGH for post-mortem. They also shifted Aravind from private hospital to KGH where his condition said to be serious.
