CM Chandrababu Naidu launches and test drives KIA car

Anantapur: AP government's prestigious project KIA Motors has launched its first car. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has unveiled and test drived of the KIA car along with the company representatives at Anantapur plant on Tuesday.

The Korean automobile giant Kia Motors has started its operation with an investment of over Rs 12,900 crore. From the Anantapur manufacturing plant, Kia Motors along with Hyundai will build the cars.

In this manufacturing plant, Kia Motors will have six sections, body shop, spare parts, press, assembly line, engine shop, coil center are in ready.

Hyundai mobis, Hyundai Dymos, Hyundai Glovis, Hyundai Glovis UPC, Hyundai dymos seats, Hyundai Steel are the six sections ready to start the production from this manufacturing unit.

The experts say that KIA plant will have an initial installed capacity of 3 lakh vehicles per annum and may be further increased to 4 lakh.

The production volume will comprise 90 percent domestic sales and 10 percent exports. The Kia Motors will generate employment for 4,000 permanent employees and 7,000 temporary employees. 

With the total investment of Rs 20,000 crore, KIA motors and the associated units were established, in which Rs 13,500 cores were invested for KIA's main plant, which will create 11,000 employment opportunities in the district.
