Polio drops to children below 5 yrs from mar 10
Vijayawada: District Collector Md Imtiaz announced that polio vaccine would be administered to children below the age of five years from March 10 to 12.
He addressed the district taskforce committee meeting attended by officers from Medical, Health, Education, Women & Child Welfare, Panchayati Raj and Municipal administration departments on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said there are 4,02,099 children across the district and 5,40,000 Pulse Polio doses have been arranged. The officers should complete 100 per cent vaccination to the children below five years, from March 10 to 12 with coordination of every department.
He further said that there are 339 rural areas and 49 urban areas as the high-risk areas in the district and the officers and their teams should concentrate more on those areas. He directed them to arrange the Pulse Polio centres at PN Bus station, Railway station, Kanaka Durga Temple and other main centres in the city.
District Medical and Health Officer Dr I Ramesh said the collector that they are arranging 10,272 administrators, 260 Route Supervisors, 194 mobile teams, 252 Transit teams and a total number of 10,978 persons will work for the Pulse Polio programme.
He also stated that the drops will be administered from 7 am to 6 pm. And if there are any in the queue, they will stay more time, he said.
District Immunisation officer Dr Amrutha, District Education Officer MV Rajya Lakshmi, WCW PD K Krishna Kumari and others were present.
