Don’t get lured by influences, voters told

 Kakinada: East Godavari district Collector and returning officer for East, West Godavari districts Graduate Constituency of AP Legislative Council Kartikeya Mishra urged the voters not to be lured by influences in exercising their franchise.

Participating in ‘Meet Your RO’ programme organised at Raja Tank here on Sunday evening to create awareness among the public, the Collector explained with power point presentation on voting process through EVMs and VVPATs.

In this connection, the Collector directed the people to use their voting right basing on conscience, keeping in view the future and asked them to use their right without fear or favour and not to be influenced by any other means.

The RO asked the city voters to avoid urban apathy, where generally low percentage of voting is reported in these areas compared with rural areas.

The Collector said that 16 types of identity cards are allowed for voting and efforts are made to provide assured minimum facilities at all 4580 polling stations in East Godavari district.

He further said that special thrust was made for provision of wheelchairs and ramp to disabled voters.

Many people raised questions on process of knowing their vote details in rolls.

The Collector suggested them to contact 1950 toll-free number for voter details.
