Guntur: Telugu Desam Party high command is considering the candidature of former Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal for Narasaraopet Lok Sabha constituency in the coming general elections, it is learnt.

The party invited him to participate in the Narasaraopet Parliament constituency review meeting to be addressed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on March 9.

Rajagopal had already met the Chief Minister and expressed his opinion. He also met Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao in his office in Guntur city recently and sought his cooperation and support for him to contest from Narasaraopet LS constituency.

Though Rajagopal was earlier elected to Lok Sabha on Congress party ticket, he had good contacts and rapport with the TDP leaders.  He is ready to contest from Narasaraopet LS constituency on behalf of the TDP in the coming elections, it is learnt.

In view of the advancing age of sitting Narasaraopet MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, the party high command is looking for options. Chandrababu Naidu is likely to decide on the candidate during the review meeting on Saturday.
