2018 Hero Super Splendor Launched
The new Super Splendor carries forward the same engine, but gets a host of new changes
After showcasing its 2018 range of commuter motorcycles back in December 2017, Hero MotoCorp has finally launched the 2018 Super Splendor in India. Targeted towards young buyers, the Super Splendor has been priced at Rs 57,190 (ex-showroom Delhi).
As a part of this new update, the Super Splendor now comes with a new three-pod instrument cluster, new indicators, a side-stand indicator and a redesigned headlamp cowl. It also gets a firmer, wider seat for more comfort.
Mechanically, the Super Splendor is still powered by the same 124.7cc motor, that we last saw in the new Glamour. This motor produces 11.4PS of power at 7500rpm which is 27 per cent more than the outgoing model as per Hero’s claims. In fact, the company also claims that torque has gone up by 6 per cent and stands at 11Nm, kicking in at 6000rpm. The list of claims doesn’t end there; the new model is also said to reach a top speed of 94kmph. It also comes equipped with Hero's i3S technology, for improved fuel efficiency.
The Super Splendor continues to use a tubular double cradle frame, which is suspended upon telescopic forks at the front and dual shock absorbers at the back. Braking is handled by 130mm drum units on both ends.
With a price tag of Rs 57,190, the Super Splendor goes against the Bajaj Discover 125, priced at Rs 53,670 and the Honda CB Shine, priced at Rs 56,429. Even with an additional price of Rs 3,322 for the disc variant, the Bajaj Discover 125 heavily undercuts the Super Splendor, which doesn’t even get the option of a disc brake. (All prices ex-showroom Delhi)
