In the market for a hot Italian motorcycle? We have some good news for you! Ducati India has announced its revised pricing for a select range of models. This has happened thanks to the government's recent decision to drop custom duty on CBU motorcycles to 50 per cent, which earlier stood at 60 per cent for motorcycles below 800cc and 75 per cent for motorcycles above 800cc. However, tax duty on locally assembled motorcycles or CKD models has been hiked from 10 per cent to 15 per cent.
The motorcycles that have benefited from this decision are the Ducati Monster 1200, Monster 1200 S(Red), Monster 1200 S (Charcoal Grey) and the Panigale R Final Edition. This is because these motorcycles are manufactured and exported out of Italy as a CBU. On the other hand, prices of the models manufactured from Thailand remain unchanged as they already enjoy a lower tax bracket thanks to the free trade agreement between India and Thailand.
Model | Old Price | New Price | Difference |
Monster 1200 | Rs 23.02 lakh | Rs 20.10 lakh | Rs 2.92 lakh |
Monster 1200S (Red) | Rs 28.12 lakh | Rs 24.63 lakh | Rs 3.49 lakh |
Monster 1200S (Charcoal Grey) | Rs 28.21 lakh | Rs 24.73 lakh | Rs 3.48 lakh |
Panigale R Final Edition | Rs 59.18 lakh | Rs 51.82 lakh | Rs 7.36 lakh |
Along with Ducati several other manufacturers have also announced price cuts across their portfolios. This includes Harley-Davidson, BMW Motorrad and Indian Motorcycles. However, manufacturers likeTriumph, which imports its motorcycles via CKD too, have been negatively affected from the 5 per cent hike in tax duty for CKD models.
