‘Tholi Prema’ business report
Though senior producer BVSN Prasad produced ‘Tholi Prema’, it is Dil Raju who bought the whole film from him and sold it to the distributors. Now, the plan Raju implemented for selling ‘Tholi Prema’ is being applauded by everyone in the industry.
It is known that Varun Tej’s previous flick ‘Fidaa’ collected 50 crores and had set a benchmark for medium range films. Now, ‘Tholi Prema’ being his next and trailer and songs impressing everyone, there is a chance for producers to get high rates. But instead, Dil Raju sold the film for a sum of 23 crores which is not even half of Varun’s previous flick’s collections.
He sold the film for 6 Cr in Nizam, 2.5 Cr in Vizag, 3 Cr in East and West, 3Cr in Ceeded, 3.6 Cr in Krishna and Guntur and for 90 lakhs in Nellore. The distribution rights for Telugu states were 19 crores. Karnataka rights were sold for 80 lakhs, Rest of India for 20 lakhs and 3 cores in overseas.
So, Varun’s film needs to cross 23 Crore to enter into profit zone. This is surely a better way compared to selling the film for high amounts and ending up in losses despite doing well at the box-office.
