Undoubtedly, dusky actress Nayantara has surpassed her colleagues like Anushka Shetty, Samantha and Trisha by taking a share in the business of her latest film ‘Kolomavu Kokila’ produced by Lyca Productions.  The ‘Dora’ actress has reportedly pocketed Rs 2 crore share in the business of her latest release `CoCo Kokila’ (in Telugu) which will be released on August 31 in the two Telugu states apart from her remuneration of Rs 1 crore.

“She is the first female star in the South to achieve this feat,” says a source, from Chennai. “Usually, actresses demand Rs 1 or Rs 2 crore per film as remuneration and they have nothing to do with the profits made by their respective producers,” he adds. However, Nayantara who has carved a niche for herself with  a slew of blockbusters like ‘Maaya’ and `Aram’ in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and the two Telugu  states to be hailed as a female superstar.

“In Tamil Nadu, the 7.30 am shows are reserved for superstars like Ajith and Vijay, but Nayantara’s ‘Kokilaa...’ broke the misconception and drew openings on the strength of her name,” adds distributor Rukmangathan, who  claims that she ensures that her films are made within stipulated budgets. “Most of her producers are making table profits since her films are wrapped up within moderate budgets of Rs 5 to Rs 6 crore, hence, the producers are running behind her as she detests lavish productions,” he concludes.
