Sobhan Babu awards to be given away on December 23

Awards have been constituted in the name of the noted actor, the late Sobhan Babu for film actors, actresses and for those in different branches of film-making for the year 2017 and they would be given away on December 23 this year.  Speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Sunday, writer Paruchuri Venkateshwara Rao said that though he was introduced to the legendary actor, the late N T Rama Rao earlier, he along with his brother did their first film with Sobhan Babu and they went on to do 13 films together.

He said that Sobhan Babu was very happy with them as they wrote for two of his films ‘Doshi-Nirdoshi’ and ‘Sarpa Yagam,’ which went on to become superhits at a time when he was planning to retire from films. Sobhan Babu would always remain in their hearts though he was not present among them physically, he added.   He urged the organizers to mobilise enough resources for holding the event successfully. Another writer Paruchuri Gopalakrishna said that he and his brother would extend all their cooperation for making the awards function a grand success as they have high regard for Sobhan Babu.  Actors should feel proud to receive the Sobhan Babu award, he added. 
   
Director Maruthi said that he was happy to be associated with event as his mother was a big fan of hero Sobhan Babu. Thanking the organisers for associating him with this event, he said that he would do his bit to make the awards giving function a grand success. Its really great that Sobhan Babu has so many fans even years after his death, he added.  

Member of the All-India Sobhan Babu Seva Samithi, Veera Prasad said that they were taking several measures from 2008 like establishing his bronze statues in important cities and providing financial assistance to poor students to perpetuate the memory of Sobhan Babu. Now, we have setup awards in his name, he added. Fans of Sobhan Babu like Sudhakar Babu, Ramanjaneyulu and others were present on the occasion.
