Humanitarian side of a leader
Habsiguda: Uppal Congress in-charge B Lakshma Reddy has proved that a leader while having duty obligations can fulfil his moral responsibilities as well. It was this quality that made the people of his constituency love him more as a good human being with a generous heart, than a politician.
In a heart wrenching incident, a school bus driver C Venkat Reddy of a private school in Habsiguda had committed suicide one-and-a-half month back. Speaking to The Hans India, Shanti Saizen Shekhar said that the driver C Venkat Reddy was a habitual drunkard. He used to drive the school bus after consuming the alcohol. When the school management came to know about this, they removed him immediately from the job, she added.
After he lost the job, C Venkat Reddy committed suicide a month back. The other drivers from different schools tried to stage dharna in front of the school with the dead body. “When the Congress in charge B Lakshma Reddy came to know about this, he counseled the members saying that they had no right in questioning the management of the school for removing a person who used to drive school bus in drunken state risking the lives of the children,” she said.
C Venkat Reddy is survived by wife and two daughters. In a humanitarian gesture, B Lakshma Reddy spoke to the principal of the private school where C Venkat Reddy used to work and briefed the management about the condition of little girls of C Venkat Reddy and urged them to lend a helping hand to them.
Considering B Lakshma Reddy’s words, the school management issued a sum of Rs 1.2 lakh to Venkat Reddy’s family. B Lakshma Reddy opened bank account for both the girls and deposited a cheque of Rs 60,000 in each girl’s account, to ensure that the amount is not misused by others.
This shows his humanitarian attitude towards the people of his constituency.
