TRS MLA conferred Ph D
Tarnaka: The Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) has been conferred on Kishore Kumar Gadari, the youngest MLA of Telangana Legislative Assembly, by Osmania University.
He did his doctoral research on “Separate Statehood for Telangana: A Study on the Role of Media” under the supervision of Prof Bandi Balaswamy, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Arts College, Osmania University.
The MLA is known to be an avid academic and boasts of an impressive MCJ (Master of Communication & Journalism) from the same university. He also cleared prestigious UGC-NET in 2013 and finished his thesis with the financial aid of Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship.
Kishore Kumar who actively participated in Telangana agitation had spearheaded several protests by forming Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee. He was booked for as many as 54 police cases during Telangana agitation.
At the age of 32, he was elected as MLA from Tungathurthy constituency in 2014 Assembly elections on behalf of TRS party. Praising his scholar, Prof Balaswamy said Kishore’s thesis reflected the stance of various media which was polarised by the Seemandhra capitalists. This work would lead to further research on the role of each medium in Telangana agitation.
