Implement road repair works on war footing, KTR tells officials

 Hyderabad: Municipal Administration Minister K Taraka Rama Rao on Monday expressed the State Government’s preparedness to give funds to the GHMC every month for road maintenance and insisted that people should face no inconvenience due to bad roads. 

In a review meeting held at HMWSSB with the GHMC and HMWSSB, HRDC and engineering staff, the minister said that he already set his sights on roads maintenance by appointing one AE rank officer to each ward on road maintenance. He warned the officials concerned of serious action if there are discrepancies if any during the rainy season as the government has been allotting funds and personnel for road maintenance works. 

During the next 60 days, prior to the onset of monsoons, the authorities should take permanent measures to prevent water logging  at vulnerable places. He wanted them to work with the coordination of traffic police. He told the zonal municipal commissioners to solve the problem of 181 water logging points and 346 vulnerable points identified last year during rainy season.  He told the authorites to evolve a plan for the rainy season and work accordingly.  

The road maintenance works should be carried out on a war-footing and implement road repairing works  and cancel leaves for two months for engineering staff, he said. Directing the HMWSSB and HMDC to work in coordination and implement road repair works where pipeline works are under way. 

Municipal Administration Secretary Aravind Kumar, GHMC Commissioner Janardhan Reddy, Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy, water works MD Dana Kishore, deputy mayor Baba Fasiuddin and others were present at the meeting.
