Jyotirao an inspiration to many: TSRTC chairman
Afzalgunj: Birth anniversary celebrations of Jyothirao Phule were conducted at MGBS on a grand note by the regional staff on Wednesday. It was attended by the TSRTC chairman S Satyanarayana and managing director G V Ramana Rao.
Speaking on this occasion, Satyanaryana said that Jyothirao Phule was the true reformer and had worked for the welfare of backward communities in India when no one would think of doing so. Jyothirao Phule is the inspiration for the generations today, he added.
“His biggest contribution for the society was to educate and promote literacy among the marginalised communities against the policies of East India Company and Brahmanic hegemony over education”, said Satyanarayana. He said that Jyothi Rao also fought against the social evils like Child Marriages, and others besides authoring several books in Marathi and English.
Managing Director G V Ramana Rao said that Jyothirao Phule taught the society that human beings are all equal before God and taught the society to live and respect each other irrespective of caste, creed and other status. He said that Phule was inspiration for the next generation leaders like Dr B R Ambedkar and others.
