Balanagar metro station to be renamed after Dr B R Ambedkar

 Balanagar: Come April 14, the Balanagar metro station will be rechristened as Dr B R Ambedkar Balanagar metro station on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the architect of the Indian constitution.

HMRL Managing Director N V S Reddy issued instructions to the MD&CEO L&T Metro Rail Hyderabad limited to install the new name boards as Dr B R Ambedkar Balanagar  Metro station at all the entry/exit points of  the Balanagar station and inside the station, reflecting the new name before 14th of this month.

Dalitula Ikya Vedhika gave representation to HMRL for the change of name. N V S Reddy had several discussions with the president Napari Chandra Sekhar, Dalitula Ikya Vedhika, Kukatpally and local MLA Madhavaram Krishana Rao for the change of name.

The metro station is adjacent to the Y-junction where the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar is prominent and every year people pay their tribute on his birth as well as death anniversary. There have been several representations for several years to rename the metro station after B R Ambedkar.
