Kapra: People residing in areas adjacent to Jammigadda burial ground are agitated as it is lying useless for years. In the recent past it was full of sewerage water with no space left to burn the dead.

As a result they are going to the Kushaiguda grave yard, one km away, for performing the last rites of their dear ones.  The residents told The Hans India that they have been facing hardships and representations to people’s representatives have not yielded the desired results. Officials who appeared to be promptly responding did not bother to visit the site again. People want the officials concerned to at least now pay attention to the issue and take steps to redress their grievance.

A S Raonagar division Congress president Goli Srinivas said that the Jammigadda grave yard has been virtually shut down because of the increasing flow of sewerage.  ‘It is stinking’. He warned to go on fast next month if no steps are taken to make it useful for people. Local corporator Pavani Reddy told the THI that sewerage from the adjacent My home Colony was flowing into the grave yard as there is no outlet. She said Rs.38 lakh has been allotted for the grave yard restoration work, which would be launched soon. Reddy assured that steps would be taken to end the hardship of the residents.
