Burglars strike at Madhura Nagar

Madhura Nagar: Burglars struck at a house in Madhura Nagar under the limits of Neredmet police station, on Sundayand made away with 10 tulas of gold ornaments worth Rs 2.4 lakhs. 

The incident happened when the house owner along with his family member went to a function at Vijayawada on Friday. The burglary came to light, when the domestic maid visited the house to clean the house. She found the house being ransacked and alerted the neighbours who in turn called in the police.

The Neredmet police visited the spot and informed the house owner. The total loss will be estimated after the owner reaches his home, sources said. Police officials said that it was a clear case of thieves looking for empty houses. Every year during summer holidays for schools thefts and breaking into houses is common. Police officials said that they would be increasing patrolling in the area.
