Server failure leads to closure of Andhra Bank branch
Tandur: With utter disregard to farmers’ woes, waiting in front of the Andhra Bank branch, the bank officials closed the branch at 3 pm, three hours ahead of the schedule, on the grounds of the bank’s computer server failure.
Farmers, including women, have been waiting in queues to encash their Rytu Bandhu cheques, for over three hours putting up with hunger and thirst. The farmers have been doing rounds to the bank branch for the past three days. They have been waiting since lunch hour to get their cheques encashed. But, the bank officials closed down the branch without giving them any information.
The Rytu Bandhu scheme beneficiaries have been condemning the ‘negligent, erratic and callous’ attitude of the bank officials. When The Hans India sought clarification from the manager Gautam Gosayi, he replied that the branch was put under lock and key when he returned after having lunch.
However, he managed to get the branch opened with the help of subordinate staff. Admitting that putting the branch under the lock and key was a mistake, he categorically stated that the bank’s server went out of order since 11 am on Wednesday. The Rytu Bandhu scheme beneficiaries would be able to encash their cheques from the banks on Thursday.
