Residents demand ban on unauthorised vehicle parking
Nacharam: Residents of four apartments in Karthikeyanagar, here, have appealed to the Transport Department to prevent parking of unauthorised commercial vehicles in street no.1 by several private transport operators much to their inconvenience.
Inmates of Crystal Meadows, Godavari, Delight Residency and Sneha Residency told The Hans India that it was a matter of concern that many illegal activities were taking places behind these parked vehicles. Besides, anti-social elements were found taking shelter during nights, taking advantage of the parked cabs and buses, posing a security threat to local residents. They said besides causing traffic jams such parking was resulting in accidents.
The residents appealed to GHMC to provide a full height fencing (mesh) replacing the damaged one along the nala adjacent to the street no.1 to prevent dumping of garbage, foodstuff, construction materials and leftover items in the drain. ‘The chocking of nala is causing stagnation of dirty water posing a serious threat to public health and causing outbreak of malaria/dengue/chickengunya for several years.
The resultant pollution and unhygienic conditions are causing serious problems to senior citizens and women, who go for regular morning/evening walks’, they stated. The residents appealed to GHMC to arrange cleaning of the nala more frequently, preferably once in a month.
