Free access to Valerian Grammar School after four years

Update: 2018-06-01 05:00 IST

Yapral: First the good news: The Valerian Grammar School is now freely accessible and the school authorities and students are a happy lot. The sad news, however, is that the Army jawans still insist on ID cards and only those who produce them are allowed.

A commuter said, “Anyone can make infinite fake identification cards. Local Military Authority should question themselves as to how effective is this rule adopted in term of ensuring security.” Ever since the order from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) on reopening of roads, the LMA tightened the rules for civilians.

It was made mandatory for the civilians to show their identification proof to gain entry. With the opening of roads, the distance of travel to reach Alwal, Lothukunta, Bolaram, Risala Bazar, Venkatapuram and Sainikpuri reduced considerably. A staff of Valerian Grammar school said, “Jawans are insisting the commuters to show Aadhaar card, pan card or driving licence and to wear helmet.”
