BLF stages dharna seeking drinking water for Suraram residents
Shapurnagar: Activists of the Bahujan Left Front (BLF) on Thursday staged dharna in front of HMWSSB General Manager’s office demanding release of water supply connection to residents of Suraram holding 60 sq yard sites, after several trips of the needy people to the board failed to elicit response from officials. They submitted a representation to HMWSSB General Manager, who assured to provide tap connection to every house in 20 days.
The BLF Qutbullapur constituency convener K Lakshman, who led the activists, said the protest was to highlight the people’s woes even during the rainy season. He claimed that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s promise of giving tap connection to every house was ‘only talk’, as people continued to face water shortage. Because of this the residents, mostly daily workers, were forced to remain in houses for securing water supply.
He alleged that officials and people’s representatives failed to respond to the repeated pleas of the people. Among the participants in the dharna were BLF Subashnagar division convener G Ashok, Lingaswamy, Veeranna.
