Collection of all LIC nomination forms may take more time: Vikarabad Collector

Update: 2018-06-30 04:38 IST

Vikarabad:  The collection of nomination forms from farmers in the district is going on at a snail’s pace and fulfilling the target by June 30 seems to be not feasible. So far, 10 per cent of collection of the nomination papers is through. It may be recalled that Vikarabad District Collector Omar Jaleel reviewed the progress and felt unhappy.

He said that he would be reviewing the progress again on July 2 to assess the situation. He asked the agriculture extension officials themselves to fill the forms to benefit the spouse in case of death of the farmer. It may be recalled that the state government is bent on implementing a Rs 5-lakh insurance cover for farmers with effect from August 15. The scheme benefits over 2.24-lakh farmers in the district.  But there are only 1.60-lakh farmers having pattadar passbooks. On behalf of the farmers, the state government pays premium to the LIC of India at the rate of RS 2,271.50 per head.  On account of defects in Aadhar linking, only 1.30 lakh nomination forms have been sent.

There are only 83 agriculture extension officials in the district, which has only 565 villages.
Each officer is taking care of 60 nomination papers. Daily, only 4980 nomination papers could be completed. By the time the deadline would have reached, only 34860 could be completed.  Earlier, 15,000 nomination papers were filled.  As the deadline expires on June 30, the total number of nominations filled would be 49860. This leaves 80140 nomination papers unfilled. Besides, another 30,000 nomi9nation papers were yet to be received from the LIC of India.

Some extension officials who did not go door-to-door sent the nomination papers to those farmers who had received their pattadar passbooks and input subsidy cheque. The farms should be filled by the Agriculture extension officials undertaking a door-to-door visit to villages. The farmers would have to provide pattadar passbook, his aadhaar card and that of the nominees to the extension official.

In some villages, the extension officials are asking the farmers to congregate at one place this has been causing commotion and confusion. At Tirmalapur in Kulkacharla mandal, the farmers gathered at one place leading to chaos. The agriculture extension official could complete only 160 forms.  The official entrusted filling the farmers to the locals.
