Seminar conducted on additive manufacturing technologies

Khairtabad: A seminar entitled ‘Additive Manufacturing Technologies for Aerospace Applications’ was conducted at Institution of Engineers (IEI) Khairatabad on Sunday. Captain SN Reddy, secretary, Telangana State Aviation Academy, illustrated with examples how latest technologies were used in metal structures. 

And said “Additive Manufacturing is a biggest dimension in aerospace engineering, since it brings solid objects and complies less wastage. It also improves quality sales time and reduces the cost up to 80 per cent when compared to other traditional methods.  It also gives an option for application for higher design of systems.”

Professor B Ravi from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mumbai explained different models of lord Ganesha of enabling rapid innovation and customized productions and related it to the evolution in manufacturing industry.  Emphasizing on sustainable manufacturing, B Ravi said, “The applications of various additives manufacturing applications in the biomedical field with example of 3D printing since there is indigenous research and development.”  

Dr S Satyanarayana, chairman of IEI, Dr Y Sreenivasa Rao, secretary of  Aeronautical Society of India, Dr G Rameshwar Rao and Dr G Chandra Mohan Reddy from Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) were present during the occasion. IEI along with Telangana State Centre and Aeronautical Society of India, Hyderabad organized the seminar.
