Miyapur park turns into adda for anti-social activities

Miyapur: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) park at JPN Nagar Miyapur is abandoned and lies in an unattended state. Walkway is withered, gate to enter the park is damaged to a substantial level, grass is worn out and trees are dried up. The park has turned into an eyesore as it is surrounded by rubbish and filth.

The GHMC promotes Haritha Haram and on the other hand it could not sustain existing parks in the city.  The park was constructed a few years ago by the GHMC, in collaboration with colony members. Thereafter it was left unchecked by the authorities. Residents in the area say, “The Park is useless and the boundaries of the park are used for sticking advertisements.”

“The park is now being used where the anti-social elements like smoking, cannabis and drinking,” said a resident of JPN colony, Manohar. Residents of Miyapur wish to stroll around the park during the evening, but there is no one to maintain it. All complaints are unheard by municipal corporation.   The park is scattered with plastic covers, beer bottles and rubbish. The GHMC workers are still turning a blind sight towards it.
