Government policies blamed for suicides of farmers

Osmania University: Raichur University Vice Chancellor Prof Muzaffar Assadi on Monday blamed the policies of government for the rise in suicides of farmers. 

Addressing the inaugural session of three-day national seminar organised by Department of Political Science on OU campus, he said the farm labours were facing severe hardship because of the government’s failure to rescue them. Dalits, tribals, women and backward classes were suffering due to lack of effective democratic set-up. 

National seminar director Prof D Ravinder explained the purpose of holding it. Head of the Political Science Prof M Brahmandam, UGC affairs Dean Prof T Parthasarathi, CART-GD (UPE) coordinator J Musalaiah, OU Social Sciences former Dean Prof K Srinivasulu, Social Sciences Dean Prof Naidu Ashok, ICSSR-SRC director Prof Chenna Basavaiah spoke at the seminar.
