New 18 mn litre tank begins supplying water at Sainikpuri
Sainikpuri: The construction of a Master Balancing Reservoir (MBR) of 18 million litres capacity by HMWS&SB has been successfully launched benefiting the public at Sainikpuri.
Local corporator Sridevi says, “Master Balancing Reservoir construction work began in 2014 and the work was completed by May 2018. The installation of MBR would ensure water supply on alternate days for the localities.”
She further added that a budget of Rs 338 crores was allotted for MBRs in the city, out of which Rs 12 crore was used for 18 million litres MBR construction at Sainikipuri. A 1600mm dia pipeline has been used for the project.
Sridevi said that Defence Colony, Vajpayee Nagar, Malkajgiri, Gautam Nagar, Moula Ali and a few other colonies would be benefitted from this reservoir. Earlier, these localities were receiving water from reservoirs located at East Anandbagh, Malkajgiri.
The incoming supply of water is from newly constructed Sainikpuri water tank to the two water tanks at Sainathapuram, one of which holds 3000kl and the other 1500kl. As of now, the water department is conducting trials to ensure smooth water supply with high pressure to various colonies and this will continue till August 15.
Thereafter the officials will decide the date of permanent release of Godavari water through the new pipelines. With this, the residents will get day by day water supply.
